Teacher Learning Commons Information

Whole Class (Check-out, lessons, or to use the resources/technology)

-          Always sign up on the resource reservation calendar for the learning commons when you are bringing a whole class.

When you are signing up on the resource calendar for items in the general category for the learning commons, please know that you may have to sign up for multiple items at once to achieve the resource usage you have in mind.

For example,

  • If you are signed up for Lesson with Media Specialist, you will also need to sign up for Learning commons Tables so that your students have a place to sit while I do the lesson with them.
  • If you want to use the a cart of the learning commons laptops and the student use the laptops in the learning commons, then you will need to sign up for Learning Commons Tables and  Laptop Cart.
  • If you want your class to check out books and be able to use the computers to search Destiny for their book check outs, you will need to sign-up for Whole Class Checkout and Learning Commons Computers 12.  There are 2 computers reserved for Book Search all the time, but if you need more than these 2, sign up for the rest of the desktops in this way.

Individual Students or Small Groups (less than three students per class)

-          You may send individual students or small groups of students to the learning commons to work anytime

o   As long as no more than 3 students from your class come unsupervised at once

o   Always send a signed agenda with the task stated that the students should be working on while visiting

o   Students should always have a clear task to accomplish while visiting the learning commons without a teacher

Teacher Book/Resource Requests

  • All requests for media purchases must be submitted on this form by Friday, September 6, 2013.  I can only purchase ONCE this year, if you submit a request later in the year I will not be able to purchase it until the next school year.
  • Please use the online forms to submit all your requests for new LLC (Library Learning Commons) book/resource/AV purchases.
    1. You may submit requests for books, curriculum related DVD’s, ebooks, audiobooks, etc.
    2. Remember that media center funds may not be used to purchase multiple copies of one title (i.e. no class sets)

  • There are two forms, please use the appropriate one.
    1. One is for single copies of specific items/titles

o   Make sure the student has noted the day and the time (not the class period)
